My Cat is an Alien at Venice Art Biennale 2017

E-mail Print PDF

My Cat Is An Alien will open the 57th Venice Art Biennale 2017 during the Preview days (May 10-12), invited by visual artist Xavier Veilhan and co-curator Christian Marclay to activate Veilhan's "Studio Venezia" project for the French Pavilion. The installation project is conceived as a sculpture-recording studio, an "immersive environment taking in the entire pavilion so as to alter the public's perception of space; a fusion of visual art and music, in the framework of the Bauhaus and Black Mountain College experiences" Veilhan says.

With more than 100 instruments at disposal, My Cat Is An Alien's radical music intervention will consist in creating a new form of audiovisual experience, based on the concept of psychic and physical atemporal dislocation throughout the internal and external huge structure of the Pavilion. Studio Venezia will be staged by musicians from all backgrounds (Eliane Radigue, Nicolas Godin of Air) who will take turns performing during over the seven months of the Biennale exhibition which will open to the public on May 13.
