KLINT, ANTON Ups & Downs 12"
Last spotted as Tryck & Ton with Edvin Edvinsson, and prior to that as Tiedye on the Italians Do It Better imprint, subversive Swede Anton Klint makes his debut on 2MR with Ups & Downs, two more vitally trippy, heavily dub-informed originals. "Mun" is rippling in places, squiggling in others, with an unabashed FX weirdness bubbling and popping over the insistent shimmering dub-wise groove. "Strupe" takes things even lower and slower with unhurried, yet relentlessly building with a great sense of cosmic drama. Remix-wise you're thrust into the later hours with a technoid twist from Andre Laos.

YARRA, RIVER Lucky Boy 12"
Oz's River Yarra gives a take on Music for Social Medias, a potential fifth volume in Brian Eno's ambient series, and the result doesn't sound at all like ambient music). With "Aorsom Wislhs", one might feel disoriented by the extremely weird and wonky lead melody. The melody of the slow jam "Sli Ggogg" is equally uneven; add to this the unsettling (slightly) human-sounding voice. But there's a sense of non-human randomness infusing all of these four songs. Take the intensely mesmerizing "Respiration Alternée" with Elen Huynh, for example.

SUN RA Disco 3000 (2018 Repress) LP
2018 repress. Originally released in 1978 on El Saturn Records. Disco 3000 is one of Sun Ra's greatest from the '70s. Recorded in Italy in 1978, it features some incredibly otherworldly keyboards that are some of his most enigmatic on record. Original tracks from the album include "Disco 3000", an incredible workout on synthesizer, with a tiny bit of drum machine, a little "Space Is The Place" breakdown, and all of the wild sound you'd expect from a Sun Ra album -- plus more long tracks -- the sweetly soulful "Friendly Galaxy", a great soul jazz number, and "Dance Of The Cosmo Aliens", which has spooky organ, frenetic bass, and somber percussion.

2018 repress. Aus Music follows releases from Breach (AUS 1578EP), Huxley (AUS 1469EP), and Bwana (AUS 1577EP) with an offering from Irish duo and long-term label affiliates Bicep. The Just EP follows self-released collaborations with Ebony and Midland, and is an impassioned bundle of broken beats, shimmering synth lines, and rapturous piano chords. The title-track suffuses a broken kick and snare combo with a poignant sequence and heart-rending synth strings. "Celeste" lays a soft, filtered croon over a swelling piano motif before "Back 2 U (Tranz Dub)" drives a tough, gravelly kick under gentle flecks of acid and rich, sweeping pads.

GODIN, NICOLAS Au Service De La France (A Very Secret Service) LP
A brand new original soundtrack from Nicolas Godin (one half of the French iconic duo AIR) which he composed for the second season of Au Service De La France (in English, "A Very Secret Service"), a TV series produced by ARTE following the adventures of different spies during the '60s. Nicolas Godin: "It was about paying homage to the soundtracks of TV series from the '60s, especially the ones narrating the adventures of spies like Mission: Impossible. How could I refuse? This was a good occasion and a great pleasure for me to dive back into a specific kind of soundtracks that is not really recorded anymore. This kind of music was often composed and recorded with jazz musicians who had also a strong knowledge of classical music. For this project, I reached out to French musicians with such background. They had, like me, the same love for legendary original soundtracks. After a time of preparation and free improvisations, the majority of the music was recorded in a single day. I hope you'll like the result, it's been composed and recorded from the bottom of my heart and from the enchanted world of childhood."

"The first release from Berceuse Heroique arrived at the Honest Jon's basement the 21st of April, we didn't sell it until the next day, though, 'cause we don't like all that RSD bullshit. This April we wanted to celebrate 5 years since that day, with our 50th release, but manufacturing records is becoming a very weird place where time and deadlines don't exist. So, today we are releasing 3 new tunes by our dear friend Florian aka Don't DJ and a remix from one of our favourite artists ever, Mr. Newworldaquarium. It's properly cut on two 12"s (180g vinyl as always) and properly mastered by our favourite mastering engineer, CGB of the D & M crew."

MARTELLOTTA, MASSIMO One Man Sessions Volume 2: Unprepared Piano LP
After the oneiric journey through synthesizers on Volume 1, entitled Synthesis (2018), Massimo Martellotta (founding member of Calibro 35) returns with the second volume of One Man Sessions exploring the tonal possibilities of the classical instrument par excellence: the piano. The instrument is at the center of the scene, and the prepared piano in the manner of John Cage is here decontextualized and freely "In/Prepared" and reinvented in a very personal way, placing objects of common use on the strings themselves to obtain unprecedented timbres. Starting from its nature as a percussion instrument, the piano is hit, caressed, blocked with rubbers or left to resonate on the capsule of a microphone, or else pinched like a harp or a cymbalon, while it fires with the battery, the vibraphone or the mellotron. In Unprepared Piano, the music moves from more classical compositions, quoting Chopin and Satie (the opening piece "Come Un Notturno") to introspective drones ("Risonanza") to songs that hybridize the languages, delineating immediate melodies and openings in balance between the absolute modernity of Nils Frahm, the moving color imagery of Bad Plus (for example in "Sostenuto") and the minimalism of Penguin Café Orchestra ("Nécessaire Per Fanciulli"). All this once again held together by an evocative, current and always recognizable conductor. An album where the piano is the protagonist then, but the dialogue with the other instruments is continuous, fluid, and you will often forget that behind every instrument there is only one person.

PUESTEL, RICO Equity 12"
Rico Puestel is a phenomenon and currently one of the best artists around when it comes to solid, discerning techno. Puestel's two current Cocoon contributions "Equity" and "Immunised" are strongly reminiscent of Caravel, which was released on Cocoon Recordings in 2017 (COR 146EP). The mini breaks and prolonged dramatic pauses are all pieces in the puzzle of Puestel's arrangement and together with the hypnotic beats and constantly radiating synths and effects, they make up his own interpretation of techno sound.

RANDOMER Slicing 12"
UK DJ and producer Rohan Walder, aka Randomer, furthers his exploration into deep, spatial techno on Dekmantel's UFO imprint. "Van Pelt" skips on the off-beat at just over 130bmp, and textured with kicks that sound like two robust, metal dumpsters being hit together. "Shadow Harp" is quintessential techno, with yet more thudding, dark-kicks layered against a syncopated plucked and jarring bass. "Dissolve" drips and oozes with a sunken undercurrent of dystopic-melancholy, driving in ruptured reverb with a tribal percussive foundation. "Slicing" dares to take things a little further, as the rounded-hollow kicks punctuate against more metallic, and analog sounds.

Parrish Smith makes his Dekmantel debut on the label's sister-techno imprint, UFO, with a blend of avant-garde electronics and industrial. With title track "Sex, Suicide & Speed Metal", Parrish Smith channels his inner Alan Vega, with some screaming guitars and 65bpm machine-crunching body beats. "Mute" jacks up the feeling of tempo, rife with energetic drum machines, pulsing synths, and retro-fitted vocals. "Fall Into Sin" sees him explore the world of deconstructed, gothic-pop yet further while "SKINS" delves further into the mechanical, with a grinding bass that bleeds through the track's entirety.

LOCO DICE Love Letters 3x12"
Loco Dice has unveiled his darkly eclectic album, Love Letters, a 15-track embodiment of his diverse production range. Featuring "We're Alive", the most highly anticipated record of his recent sets. Dice's third studio album after 7 Dunham Place (DESOLAT 001CD, 2009) and Underground Sound Suicide (DESOLAT USS-BOX, 2016) sees him reflecting on his musical influences and connections to Düsseldorf and beyond. The album is packed with the producer's typically forceful tones, which blur the lines between house and techno. Utilizing the bristling sounds and smooth drum beats, Dice's Love Letters serves as an aural embodiment of the tones which make his sound so unique. Throughout, Dice uses his own vocals more frequently than on previous albums, which makes the production both trippier and more personal, representing past and present. Addressing his listeners via special sleeve inside the 3x12" vinyl album edition, Dice writes: "The music on Love Letters is filled with the positive energy and love that I have received around the world. Every piece on this album is like a mini letter. A Love Letter." With a trio of collaborations on the album, Dice drafts in Serious Klein on "Selflove", William Djoko on "Out Of Reach", and Eddie Fowlkes on "D Town Playaz". As someone who is deeply influenced by genres like soul and funk, Dice invited German-based artist Serious Klein -- who's work he has been following for the past while, to his Daddyscrib studio and a perfect blend was formed that was not only basted on their mutual African roots. When "Out Of Reach" began to take shape, it was clear for Dice that only the Amsterdam's finest -- William Djoko, could provide the final shape he envisaged on the release. The third feature on the album comes from Detroit godfather Eddie Fowlkes on the appropriately named "D Town Playaz", which features both of the artists' vocals and serves as a teaser for the things to come. Gatefold cover.

DE ANGELIS, GUIDO & MAURIZIO Orzowei Il Figlio Della Savana LP
LP version. 180 gram vinyl; Gatefold sleeve. Digitmovies present the complete edition of the original soundtrack for the Italian cult TV series Orzowei composed by the prolific brothers Guido and Maurizio De Angelis for the first time in full stereo. Based on the novel Orzowei written by Alberto Manzi and issued in 1955, the story was adapted into 13 episodes of an international TV hit series which was produced in 1976 by Italian and German companies. It was directed by the French filmmaker Yves Allégret and starred Peter Marshall as Isa Orzowei, the British star Stanley Baker, Doris Kunstmann, Vincenzo Crocitti, and Bonne Lubega. This TV program was broadcasted in Italy in early 1977 and presented again with version especially re-edited for cinema theaters called Orzowei - Il Figlio Della Savana ("Orzowei - Son of the Savannah"). Isa, a white child abandoned in the forest of South Africa, is found and raised like a son by an old great warrior and by an old woman, both of them belonging to the Swazi people, an ethnic grouping of the Bantu tribe. Only one single was issued: RCA BB 6054, a very big international record hit. Taken from the stereo master tapes which have been well preserved in the RCA archives. Concerning Orzowei besides the 45 rpm single versions "Orzowei" and "Le Notti Di Orzowei", there are also alternate takes of the famous theme song like a different mix, the instrumental version, an evocative version with an echoed solo flute, the very cool karaoke version, an alternate take of "Le Notti Di Orzowei" without flute (all the original material discovered on the master tapes). Digitmovies discovered on another master tape three extra alternate takes. An OST of the '70s Italian TV cult.

DE ANGELIS, GUIDO & MAURIZIO La Tigre E Ancora Viva: Sandokan Alla Riscossa! LP
LP version. 180 gram vinyl. Gatefold sleeve. Digitmovies present the Guido and Maurizio De Angelis's original motion picture soundtrack for the movie La Tigre È Ancora Viva: Sandokan Alla Riscossa! ("The Tiger Is Still Alive: Sandokan To The Rescue"). At the time of release, a 45rpm single was issued (RCA BB 6135) featuring two tracks, for this LP Digitmovies have used the stereo master tapes found in the RCA vaults. After a slow and solemn strings introduction of the "Sandokan Theme", the new main theme is presented, for big orchestra and of epic flavor, called "Ritorno A Mompracem". This theme is reprised with several variations: with mandola and strings, slow and mystic, with flute, mandola, and bells, and in vocal version. The score is also enriched with very rhythmic action music, and of ethnic flavor. The Sandokan theme is reprised with an atonal way with reverberated harps. Although a digital restoration occurred some audio anomalies (pre-existing on the original sources) remain. Mompracem villagers are scared and left hungry by the ferocious Sultan Abdullah, a sovereign cowardly and cruel, serving the British. Jamilah, a young woman, returns to Mompracem to call the old "tigers" to battle, but is hunted by the sultan's guards and is about to be killed, but she was saved by the Greek adventurer Teotokris. The latter decides to help her, making a long journey to India in search of Sandokan, taking shelter there to convince him to resume his fight against the British.

SKRIMA Tapes LP
Disasters By Choice presents Tapes, the debut release from Sicilian sound artist Skrima. Skrima on the release: "Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the far off, faded, almost muffled sounds, melodies and harmonies coming into my room from outside sources. I would record these sounds, with a recording device and microphones of various quality levels, and then modify them with various effects over many years; this was my secret passion. I called this kind of work, with those old tapes, 'the sound from next door, or, the neighbor's sounds'. Over the years, the instruments I use to complete the sound layers haven't changed; I continue to use various defective Casio keyboards, a semi-acoustic Hofner bass, a myriad of effects and cables, and an old analog, multi-effect EKO multitone from the 1960s. Listening again to the tracks for the finalization of this album, it was interesting to see that my conception hasn't changed over the years, despite my exposure to many kinds of music, from all different genres and times." All the tapes were recorded between 1981 and 1983, whereas the added effects and mixing on four tracks was done between 1983 and 1986, with all being reworked in 1999. Issued here on white vinyl, with a special cover incorporating volcanic ash; Edition of 200.

MICHAEL, RAS Promised Land Sounds LP
2018 repress. Dug Out present Ras Michael's Promised Land Sounds, originally released in 1980. This is the untrammeled counterpart to Dadawah, six years later in 1980, fresh from the Black Ark: free, rawly spiritual trance-music; a full-force nyabinghi freak-out. The drummers are headlong and rollicking, thunderous and explosive. Even more so than Dadawah, the mix is ecstatically echoey - giddily dub-wise without let-up. Ras Michael himself sings from the mountain-top, like he just don't care - at the top of his lungs, in voices, screeching like a bird - with the delirious abandonment otherwise owned in reggae by Lee Perry. Amongst the uncredited performances swirled into proceedings, there are squiggles of flute straight from the Upsetters song-book, the minor-key organ stabs and abstraction of electric space-jazz and sax-playing more attuned to the Headhunters than the Blazing Horns (1977) ("I Ya I" in particular is a stunning fifteen minutes.) This is the real thing, music without affectation - Pure reggae. Sun Ra fans should love it; anyone with ears to hear. Prepared and manufactured at Abbey Road, D&M and Pallas. Beautifully presented in rigid, old-school, tip-on sleeves, with matte-coated fronts and untreated-paper backs; 180 gram vinyl. These sounds are sounds of inspiration and love and culture to the universal benefit of mankind. So therefore meditate and stop hate. Very hotly recommended.

MITCHELL, NICOLE Maroon Cloud CD
"maroon cloud, a powerful eight-part suite by celebrated flutist Nicole Mitchell, is a paean to the human gift of imagination and its ability to foster resistance in our dystopian times. It features a drum-less quartet with Mitchell, cellist Tomeka Reid, pianist Aruán Ortiz and vocalist Fay Victor, recorded live at National Sawdust in Brooklyn as part of John Zorn's Stone Commissioning Series (March 29, 2017). In part, maroon cloud refers to the realm of creativity that we can enter simply by closing our eyes - an ability no one can take away from us. 'Imagination, especially black imagination is a really vital and undervalued resource,' the composer states. 'It's very clear that we can't continue in the same direction that we've gone, but we need to return to where imagination and creativity come from, because if we don't have another vision then we can't make a different future. What makes us special as human beings is our ability to imagine things that don't even exist yet.' Those future-seeking visions, for now, exist in what we might call the 'cloud.' 'Maroon,' meanwhile, has a number of meanings: it ties into the theme of resistance by referencing the Maroons -- those Africans who escaped slavery in the Caribbean and banded with indigenous people to form their own communities as early as the 16th century. Mitchell also cites the alternate meaning of 'marooned,' i.e., people being abandoned to their fate. And then there's maroon, the rich dark color we might see with eyes closed, imagining social and political renewal. Nicole Mitchell, a longtime Chicagoan and professor of music at the University of California-Irvine, recently received a Champion of New Music Award from the American Composers Forum. She has been hailed for her 'Afrofuturist vision' and credited as 'the most inventive flutist in the past 30 years of jazz' by The New York Times. Her varied projects and leadership as the first woman to chair the AACM have widened the scope of improvised music."

SHELTER Profondeur 4000 LP
An underwater adventure by young Parisian Shelter. Where previous releases have seen the synth-obsessed Frenchman take his inspiration from Caribbean rhythms or Balearic attitudes, this marine missive sees Shelter turn to the lavish world of the library, creating his alternate score to Jean Faurez's 1960 documentary short. More submersible than snorkel, the journey begins in the very dark of the deep, mystical harp trills echoing through the inky blackness, picking up the bioluminescent shimmer of an Abraliopsis Squid. Gradually you make your way into the light, cruising past shoals of silver scales and underwater forests. "Immersion" offers a placid, percolating rhythm and billowing pads, providing sonic symmetry for the dancing leaves, while the spherical soundscape of "La Vie A L'Ombre" bubbles away like an underwater volcano. The optimistic ambience of "Plenitude Azotee", brimming with delicate melody and glistening sequences, perfectly captures the wide-eyed wonder of a reef dive, before drifting into the serenity of "Parade", an aquatic acquaintance of A.R.T. Wilson's Overworld (2014). A brief foray into shark fin funk sees out the A side, before you're back amid the beauty of the ocean floor; "Variation Abyssale II" echoing the album opener but with even more poetry. The exotic and otherworldly sine waves of "Dans La Jungle De Varech" simultaneously sound like a rainforest canopy, alien landscape, and coral microcosm, expanding the horizons nicely ahead of the adrenaline rush of "Hors D'Haleine". Shelter then sets you at ease with the tidal tonality and subtle shuffle of "Fumeurs Noirs", a sublime synthetic suite, then leaves us to marvel at the soft-focus splendor of "Synthii Outro".

VAINIO & JOACHIM NORDWALL, MIKA Monstrance 2LP
Monstrance documents Mika Vainio and Joachim Nordwall reshaping guitars, drums, and incendiary electronics at Einstürzende Neubauten's Berlin studio back in 2010. The results were originally issued by Touch in 2013 with this new double-LP edition arriving on Nordwall's iDEAL Recordings label five years later as a posthumous tribute and reminder of his erstwhile collaborator. It's one of Vainio's most crucial and absorbing collaborations; moving away from ice-cold electronic precision and into a more visceral re-rendering of metal. In a sort of fantasy regression imbued with the spirit of their shared heroes -- Einstürzende Neubauten -- Mika returns to the instruments he cut his teeth on way back in the '80s, manning electric guitar, drums, and effects, while Nordwall takes control of electronics, electric bass, Hammond organ, and vibraphone, with both arriving at a mutually primal conclusion of distortion and fiercely charged electro-acoustic air. The first side's "Alloy Ceremony" comes on like an Earth death march (especially if played at 33rpm), before the furnace blast of "Live At The Chrome Cathedral" settles to the sepulchral croaks of "Midas In Reverse'. In the second part, the duo communicate in reverberant, hollow knocks, and guttural bass waves on "Irkutsk", leading to a moment of raw, staggering poignancy with the shimmering primitivism of "Praseodymium", leading each other in acres of negative space, with needled strings creating a fine tension that dissolves into the funereal, floating tones of "In The Sheltering Sanctus Of Minerals" in a sort of blue, etheric and almost ecclesiastic resolution. All the track titles allude to metal (in the material sense), which gives you a firm sense of the hard, grey tonal palette the duo worked with. But Nordwall and Vainio generate such an impressive array of music out of this ascetic approach that we can't really think of much in either of their extensive repertoires that sounds much like the hour of music they created here. It's one of Vainio's most impressive and unique collaborations outside of Pan Sonic, an essential exploration of silence and noise. Mika Vainio: Electric guitar, effects and percussion; Joachim Nordwall; Electronics, bass, organ and vibraphone. New artwork by Philip Marshall. Mastered at EMS, Stockholm by Daniel Karlsson.

ABRAMYAN, EMIL Movement LP
Building on the already incredible collection of music so far released on Francis Harris's Kingdoms imprint, Emil Abramyan returns with the stunning Movement album. Abramyan is a Brooklyn-based composer, musician, and producer, whose work traverses various styles and disciplines. In this release Emil shares his unique perspective by bringing together his conservatory training as a cellist and his love of electronic music and sound design. Having played the cello on every Francis Harris album, Abramyan now expands his repertoire by playing every instrument, including cello, piano, and electronics. Beginning with "Flightplan", the album lifts off in sublime fashion. Brooding cellos combine with pianos before subtle rhythms unfold and introduce themselves. The skittering rhythm of "Winter" is combined with pizzicato melodies, clicks, and modular synth flurries. Showcasing his versatility, "Foolky" is a more dancefloor-oriented cut -- a highly percussive groove unfolds and carries along a variety of instrumentation. "4_24" also makes use of shuffling, percussive grooves layered with drone sounds, and more of Abramyan's signature cello. "Fever" sees the Brooklynite heading in a more obviously ambient direction, building atmosphere with a mixture of close mic'd experimentation, and beautiful choral fragments. Rounding off this release, label boss Francis Harris reworks "Flightplan", finding new nuances in the sublime atmosphere, and slowly building up to a subtle, understated groove that takes the track to a different place entirely. Includes download with a bonus track.

"What works reliably is to know the raw silk, hold the uncut wood. Need little. Want less. Forget the rules. Be untroubled. Laurel Halo presents six instrumental pieces that form a meditative, cinematic listening experience. Inspired by recent film score work for Metahaven and Ursula Le Guin's translation of the Tao Te Ching. Featuring cello work by Oliver Coates and percussion by Eli Keszler. Working in abstraction leads to a deeper longing for touch and closeness. The tactile sensation of struck organ keys and bowed strings, wood and felt on drum heads. Smoke and dirt and stone. Febrile and tactile, hairy and hissy. A clover of highway onramps, a continuous flow, like old leaves melting on their way down a stream at the back of a house. GOLDMANN, STEFAN An Ardent Heart 12" + CD
An Ardent Heart is a focused techno mini-album that brings forward Stefan Goldmann's most dancefoor-centered material since 2008. The tracks push and pull relentlessly. Despite their linear appeal, there is an intricately balanced interplay between the heavy-handed kicks, the bouncy bass accents, and the sizzling, yet clear-cut details whipped up by the rallying drums. The peculiar, seemingly "vocalized" mode of synthesis is maybe the most unifying sonic characteristic of the six tracks and one coda. Formant shaping, vowel filters and airstream perturbations let a wide range of sounding elements speak in the tongues of a cybernetic Babylon. Layered polymetric patterns perforate the aural plane with alien scripts. Clearly structured, yet opaque messages that seem to have traveled for aeons emanate from the red-hot circuitry. They spill into a network of delays, channeled down into labyrinthine corridors, enveloped in electrostatic noise. Most tracks build on chance patterns evoked with hardware sequencers and freeform modulation sources. The resulting synthetic systems are as cohesive as they exhibit vast internal variation and range. Balancing simplicity and complexity right in the middle, the results are just as immediately gripping as they can feed sustained attention. A wide palette of distortion and overtones mark the contours of individual elements that seem to have near-physical qualities -- as if there were metallic strings, thick membranes, a resonating sphere, all struck by electric mallets, caused to vibrate by mechanical bows and sung by silicone lips. Includes CD with three tracks not included on 12".

ORQUESTA DE LAS NUBES The Order Of Change LP
The subject of Music From Memory's compilation here focuses on Suso Saiz's output as part of the group Orquesta De Las Nubes, formed by Suso Saiz and percussionist Pedro Estevan when the two met whilst studying a course on "Techniques of Contemporary Composition" in Madrid. Following on from a retrospective compilation of solo work and an album of recent work in 2016, Music From Memory continue to explore the work of Spanish ambient and experimental pioneer Suso Saiz. Sharing a curiosity for American minimalist and non-western music, the pair began to share music through many listening sessions, during which the idea slowly evolved to try and make music together. Pedro's partner at the time, soprano singer María Villa, would later join the two on vocals. With Suso's sparse use of guitar loops, synthesizers, and drum computers in combination with the hypnotic percussion of Pedro Estevan and the wordless drifting vocals of María Villa, Orquesta De La Nubes would evolve as a group with a truly unique musical language; an ethereal and almost otherworldly musical realm. Developing at first as a live act, through a number of performances in Madrid and beyond, Orquesta De Las Nubes was very much connected with, and inspired by, the avant-garde arts scene in Madrid at the time. Throughout their shows, a close circle of friends, including a number of painters, sculptors, and designers, would collaborate with the trio to create unique imagery and elaborate stage sets for the group's performances. Yet, despite the growing fascination surrounding Orquesta De Las Nubes' live performances, the trio would however find it extremely difficult to find a label willing to release their music on record. The group's then manager Silvia Lovosevic therefore decided to set up her own label Linterna Música in order to make the work available. The group would release three albums between 1983-1987, two on the Linterna Musica label as well as an album and CD compilation of live tracks on the cult Spanish label Grabacionnes Accidentales. Between this period, the trio would also team up with American percussionist Glen Velez to record as the group Musica Esporadica; a one-off project in which they recorded a single album of the same name in 1985.

VA Call Me By Your Name 2LP
"Call Me By Your Name, the film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. Summer of 1983, Northern Italy. An American-Italian is enamored by an American student who comes to study and live with his family. Together they share an unforgettable summer full of music, food, and romance that will forever change them. The film received critical acclaim. Critics praised in particular Chalamet, Hammer and Stuhlbarg's performances, Guadagnino's direction and the screenplay. Call Me By Your Name won a variety of Awards, including Academy, Bafta, GLAAD and many more. Sufjan Stevens's song 'Mystery of Love' was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 90th Academy Awards. Luca Guadagnino wanted the film's music to be connected to Elio, a young pianist who likes to transcribe and adapt pieces in order to get close to Oliver. The music is used to reflect the time, the characters' family, level of education and 'the kind of canon they would be a part of'. Guadagnino found himself resonating with Sufjan Stevens' lyricism through his work and initially asked Stevens to record an original song. Eventually, Stevens contributed three songs to the soundtrack: 'Visions of Gideon', which was used at the end of the film, 'Mystery of Love,' which was featured in the film's first trailer and a new rendition of 'Futile Devices' with piano. Stevens penned the songs by using the script, the book, and the conversations with the director about the characters. It marks Sufjan Stevens' first soundtrack for a feature film. The vinyl package of Call Me By Your Name includes a poster, an insert and the 180 gram records are housed in 2 exclusive printed innersleeves. Special Limited Peach Season Edition. KHALAB Black Noise 2084 LP
LP version. Includes download card. Khalab has summoned a futuristic Afro-centric soundscape by weaving a poly-phonic tapestry of future bass, jazz, and field recordings. The LP's title track tells hard truths from the mind of spoken word artist Tenesha The Wordsmith. Along with her words the LP's title has been augmented with a date marking the arrival of an emancipated future. Black Noise 2084 casts aside the worn and surface level cliché of black music being soul music. Khalab guides you to the beginning of a journey, the journey of rhythms and he takes you within earshot of the voices and spirits that carried them. Soul gained over eons of terror and forced transportation, soul driving survival against systematic oppression, wholesale against a people. Khalab looks to the noise, the messages, the spirits, and evokes the light of Black Noise 2084 out of darkness. From dystopian roots, the beat marabout Khalab has led his assembly of messengers to invoke this myth of cathartic liberation. Black Noise 2084 features the voices of musical voyagers seeking new pathways: Shabaka Hutchings, Moses Boyd, Tamar "The Collocutor" Osborn, the master Gabin Dabire, Tenesha The Wordsmith, Tommaso Cappellato, Prince Buju, and Clap! Clap! Within the tapestry of Khalab's Black Noise 2084 the myth moves through its cycle of life, initiations and ceremonies with a cast of unnamed messengers. Khalab was invited to work with field recordings from the archives of the Royal Museum for Central Africa of Bruxelles. The museum's recordings made for a post-colonial world, hold ethnographic and historical insights into the cultures of the region over the last 500 years. The Museum is far from the horrors that Belgian King, Leopold II unleashed during his colonial reign, however it is a dark legacy that is far from absolved. Black Noise 2084 opens a portal where displaced rhythms, chants, screams, and dreams collide with quaking bass, a vortex of shattering synths, jazz rains and emotion all amalgamate. Empires for millennia thrived across the African continent and Empires are being willed to rise. 2084 a time when rhythms have shed the cargo of their haunted odyssey. The myth of Black Noise 2084 is a new dawn where the ghosts of Leopold and all his kind are finally excised. Atonement in hearing the truths carried across the ages, carried in noise, Black Noise.

MUIR, JAKE Lady's Mantle LP
Sferic cruise the best coast with Jake Muir's solo debut, arriving in pursuit of the immersive ambient-architextural themes which also influenced Space Afrika's warmly received Somewhere Decent To Live LP (SFERIC 002LP, 2018) and Echium's lush Synthetic Space side (SFERIC 001LP, 2017). Jake Muir is a sound designer and artist from Los Angeles, California, where he's previously recorded and released albums under the Monadh moniker for Further Records and Dragon's Eye Recordings, the latter of which recently lead to his inclusion on the Touch compilation Live At Human Resources (2018), where he took part in a beautiful group tribute to Jóhann Jóhannsson along with a number of solo contributions. On Lady's Mantle Muir unfurls a poignant sound image crafted from samples of a well-loved American pop group and later smudged with field recordings made everywhere from Iceland to California. In nine succinct scenes, the results loosely limn a wide sense of space and place with its fading harmonic auroras and glinting, half-heard surf rock melodies rendered in an abstract impressionist manner that suggests a fine tracing of in-between-spaces, perhaps describing metropolitan sprawl giving way to vast mountain ranges and oceanic scales. In effect, the album recalls the intoxicated airs of Pinkcourtesyphone (aka L.A. resident Richard Chartier) as much as Andrew Pekler's sensorial soundscapes and even the plangent production techniques of Phil Spector. But for all its implied sense of space, ultimately there's a paradoxically close intimacy to proceedings which feels like you're the passenger in Muir's ride, and he patently knows the scenic route. Mastered by Lawrence English.

The material here was recorded in Riga between 1988-2011. As Ingus Baus?enieks himself explains: "My own world differs a little from my friends' tastes. And -- as my father said -- the collective art is not art at all. The music of Ingus Baus?enieks is both deeply private and completely alien. Experimental yet happy to celebrate pop influences such as Engelbert Humperdinck, Simon & Garfunkel, or Fleetwood Mac. It is shaped by the artist's engagement with technology and his strive to put to record his "own world". As Ingus explains, it is the sound of him: "doing what I like to do."

KOSMOSE First Time Out LP
Something undoubtedly cosmic but with a DIY, home-made edge: a cosmos for sure, but dirtier than clean, noisier than technology-based. All songs are unreleased. Recorded and mixed in March 1975. After some years rather cosmic and raga-esque music, Kosmose slowly began to explore some more experimental and noisy sonic expression. At the time, the band only owned a few instruments and sound effects and, no drummer. They used to play long tracks in order to follow the trend of the alternative music of the period -- remember, this was 1975. The event was a total spectacle with an inventive light-show including a stroboscope and a frantic projection of strange abstract slides on a giant screen by Freddy Pourcel. Some incense was burnt time-to-time. Personnel: Alain Neffe - monophonic synthesizer, flute, primitive rhythm box, bell, clumsy voice, tarang; Francis Pourcel - bass, bass with violin bow, electric guitar; Daniel Malempré (aka MAL) - electric guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar.

OLIVEROS, PAULINE Early Electronic Works 1959-66 2LP
Sub Rosa present a collection of Pauline Oliveros's early material, aptly titled Early Electronic Works 1959-66, released as a part of the label's Early Electronic series. Oliveros was an important American composer, born in Houston, Texas on May 30, 1932; the music she produced in the latter part of her life is akin to the breath of life, notably, through her pieces for accordion (particularly those which she herself performed). In addition to her performances, she also made an impact in the world of contemporary composition through the creation of the Deep Listening Center, her approach to improvisation, and her numerous and varied collaborations including those with John Cage, Morton Subotnick, Terry Riley, Sonic Youth, Erold, and Andrew Deutsch. The music presented here is her early and definitive contribution to the tape and electronic music of the late 1950s and 1960s through her systematic exploration of electronic sounds, which was fundamental during this period. Silver vinyl; Edition of 400."My work with electronic music began in 1959. My first tape piece was an ambitious four channel work called Time Perspectives (1959). The piece was made by recording small sounds from objects resonated on a wooden wall and changing the tape speed. I used cardboard tubes as filters by inserting the microphone into the tube and recording sources through the tubes. I used my bath tub as a reverberation chamber." --Pauline Oliveros.

NICHOLS & THE SMALL CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, ROGER Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends LP + CD + 7"
LP version. 180 gram vinyl. Includes CD and 7". Tapete Records presents a reissue of Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends, a 1968 album by Roger Nichols. Nichols wrote some of the biggest hits of the 20th century and his songs were recorded by such illustrious names as Frank Sinatra, The Carpenters, The Monkees, and many more. Before he made a name for himself as a songwriter, he recorded a disc of his own for the ultra-hip A&M label in 1968, the legendary Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends album. The friends in the title were siblings Melinda and Murray MacLeod, joined by a veritable who's who of the Californian music scene. Alas, not even the presence of sound engineer Bruce Botnick, fresh from the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds production (1966), Van Dyke Parks and A&M in-house producer Tommy LiPuma could rescue the album from its fate as a flop. The sales figures may have been disappointing, but Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends ultimately attained classic status as a lost masterpiece of Californian pop, earning its rightful place in discerning record collections alongside Pet Sounds, Forever Changes (1967), and Head (1968). Possibly the most important LP of the soft-pop/sunshine-pop era has been reissued on more than one occasion over the years, yet has been unavailable in recent times, unless you are willing to part with vast sums of money on typical online platforms.

OS MUTANTES A Divina Comedia Ou Ando Meio Desligado LP
2018 repress; Vinyl Lovers present a reissue of Os Mutantes' A Divina Comedia Ou Ando Meio Desligado, originally released in 1970. This was the third album from Os Mutantes, the geniuses of wacked out Brazilian psychedelic rock. They may have been trying to pay homage to their better known icons back in the States, but in doing so they created something that went beyond all that until, 30 years later, they became the ones that everyone was trying to imitate. This album, further testimony to their limitless creativity and considered by many to be their best, was recorded during the height of the Brazilian military regimes crack down on artists, and fellow members of the Tropicalia movement, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil had already been sent into exile in the UK. 180 gram vinyl.

DAVIS, MILES Lift To The Scaffold LP
Wax Love present a reissue of Miles Davis's soundtrack for the 1958 film Lift To The Scaffold. The film, directed by Louis Malle, is known as Elevator To The Gallows in the USA. Lift To The Scaffold or, in the original French title, Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud, is a brilliant film noir from 1958 that helped to establish the nouvelle vague and the new modern cinema scenes. No less brilliant is the score, composed by Miles Davis and featuring mostly French musicians, including the great Barney Wilen on tenor saxophone, as well as Kenny Clarke on drums, this is some of the most lonesome and morose music Davis recorded in his career. Perfectly matching the stark, dangerous, and grim moods of the film, this is a truly amazing score by one of the biggest names in jazz music history.

FUKUI, RYO Mellow Dream LP
Limited repress; LP version. Mastered at half speed. 180 gram vinyl; Stoughton tip-on sleeve. We Release Jazz (WRWTFWW Records' new sister-label) present the official reissue of criminally overlooked Japanese jazz gem Mellow Dream by Hokkaido pianist wunderkind Ryo Fukui, originally released in 1977. Released in conjunction with the its legendary predecessor 1976's Scenery (WRJ 001CD/LTD-LP). Firmly standing on the foundation he laid down with Scenery, Ryo Fukui continues his exploration of modal, bop, and cool jazz sounds with meticulous grace and absolute mastery. As its title suggests, Mellow Dream ventures into slightly mellower, more soulful, and sometimes more contemplative territories (the Bill Evans-reminiscent "Mellow Dream" and "My Foolish Heart") while still packing the commanding punch Fukui's work is loved for, as heard on the amazingly bombastic "Baron Potato Blues" or the gigantic McCoy Tyner/John Coltrane-influenced "Horizon" which sees each member of the trio -- Satoshi Denpo is on bass and Yoshinori Fukui is on drums -- demonstrating their virtuosity for nine exhilarating minutes. With his sophomore album, Ryo Fukui swings from melancholy to vibrant joy with ease, and reminds you that jazz is best served with a pinch of blues, and displays an immensely rare combination of pure talent, unique personal approach and focused discipline. The man undeniably deserves a spot in the pantheon of all-time great jazz pianists. After releasing the outstanding Scenery and Mellow Dream back-to-back, Ryo Fukui worked on developing his live skills, often performing at Sapporo's Slowboat Jazz Club (which he co-founded with his wife Yasuko Fukui), and even releasing two live albums. He sadly passed away in March 2016, leaving behind a legacy of works that all jazz lovers should explore. Sourced from the original masters.

DEMARSAN, ERIC Le Cercle Rouge LP
We Release Jazz present the official reissue of Eric Demarsan's original soundtrack of Jean-Pierre Melville's 1970 film noir classic Le Cercle Rouge. The film stars Alain Delon, Bourvil, Gian Maria Volontè, and Yves Montand. This reissue includes four bonus tracks, not available on previous pressings of the album, Eric Demarsan's compositions for Le Cercle Rouge draw from the orchestral spirit of the Modern Jazz Quartet (as requested by Melville who loved John Lewis's work), abstraction, and minimalism to create a suspenseful and hypnotizing audio landscape which elegantly underlines the tense atmosphere of unavoidable fate that shrouds the movie and the doleful beauty of its characters. Simply put, it's the finest combination of underworld existentialism, coldblooded chic, and crime jazz. Le Cercle Rouge boasts the participation of celebrated jazz players Guy Pedersen (bass), Daniel Humair (drums), Georges Arvanitas (piano), and Bernard Lubat (vibraphone). Starting as a collaborator of François de Roubaix and Michel Magne in the '60s, Eric Demarsan went on to become a mainstay of French cinema soundtracks, composing for directors such as Jean-Pierre Mocky, Costa-Gavras, and Patrice Leconte, among others. He also recorded the cult album Pop Symphony (for Pierre Cardin in 1970) under the Jason Havelock pseudonym. Includes four bonus tracks. Mastered at half speed. 180 gram vinyl; Stoughton tip-on sleeve; Obi with gold sticker.

TAKADA, MIDORI Through The Looking Glass (Limited Edition) 2x12"
2018 repress on "crystal clear" vinyl; 2x12" version. Comes in a gatefold Stoughton "Tip-On" jacket. Palto Flats and We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want Records present the highly-anticipated reissue of Japanese percussionist Midori Takada's sought after and timeless ambient/minimal album Through The Looking Glass, originally released in 1983 by RCA Japan. Considered a holy grail of Japanese music by many, Through The Looking Glass is Midori Takada's first solo endeavor, a captivating four-song suite capturing her deep quests into traditional African and Asian percussive language and exploring contemplative ambient sounds with an admirably precise use of marimba. The result is alternatively ethereal and vibrant, always precise and mesmerizing, and makes for an atmospheric masterpiece and an unparalleled sonic and spiritual experience. Midori Takada is a composer, multi-percussionist, and theater artist renowned in Japanese vanguard circles. Midori has released two solo albums: Through The Looking Glass and Tree Of Life (1999) and wrote music for Tadashi Suzuki's theater plays. Her hypnotic, minimalist music is based in the concept of coherence between sound and the human body. She performs solo on marimba and other percussion instruments. She debuted on the scene of Berlin Philharmonic, performing with the RIAS Symphonie-Orchester Berlin just after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1974. She continued her career with solo concerts in Japan and abroad. In the 1980s, Midori began to explore the traditional music of Asia and Africa. Her fascination resulted in joint projects with Kakraba Lobi from Ghana, Lamine Konte from Senegal, Farafina Band from Burkina Faso, and Korean musicians: zither player Chi Seong-Ja, flute player Won-Il, and saxophone player Kang Tae-Hwan. She also led Mkwaju Ensemble's innovative percussion project and still performs with free-jazz band Ton-Klami with Kang Tae-Hwan and jazz pianist Masahiko Satoh. Takada's compositions have a remarkable way of affecting the imagination. Her minimalist, contemplative music is filled with the concept of infinity and reminds us of a moon voyage, falling stars, a journey into the ocean, or a walk in the garden. The trans melodies, initially simple, begin to loop and splinter, their rhythm breaking and thickening, slowly drawing the listener into another reality. This fully licensed reissue comes with extensive liner notes.
