Long before gangsta rap, there was Superfly. Two time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Curtis Mayfield passed away last weekend at 57. Mayfield will probably be best remembered for his soundtrack to the 1972 film Superfly, which produced two top 10 singles, "Freddie's Dead" and "Supefrly," and a Grammy. Mayfield was paralyzed from the neck down in 1990 during a concert when a lighting tower fell on him, he also had a leg amputated this past year due to diabetes brought on since the injury. No cause of death was given. He will be missed.
