hi jon, great couple of podcasts these last two! especially todays.  
all the best for 2006 and thanks for all the music in 2005. I recall  
listening to your podcasts for the first time (in their entirety) on  
my iPod flying over the north atlantic to toronto july 2005,  
realising that podcasts were going to change my (music) life forever!  
sounds dramatic I know, but it has proven to be true. I've  
'discovered/ been introduced to' over fifty new artists (if one only  
counts them by CD purchases that is, since that epic flight of  
discovery...ha ha

After reading your great article last week on the dire state of the music
industry in relation to the consumer I came across this :

 The BBC have got together 4 supposed "experts" on the industry in relation to
digital media and are going to get them to answer questions submitted by
readers.  I thought it would be interesting to get as many people as possible
asking them the real hard questions which you brought up in your article.
Already they are getting a lot of questions about DRM, artist's royalties and
copyright extentions.  I believe the question submission ends on the 24th.

Thanks for the note, but looking at the panelists is disturbing. Once again the media only recognizes the major labels as being "the music industry."  They're gravely mistaken and complete assholes for feeding the fallacy.  The thing that irritates me most is the fact that the major labels and their lawyers are writing the laws that effect the bands and businesses they have NO REIGN over.  These assholes will all be out of work soon with any luck.

hey guys, it's now i dunno how many months since the brainwashed restyling and i still don't like it. Some of the new features are nice but what i liked most about the old brainwashed is that it was just 1 page and you could read everything in 1 go. Now there's just too many back-and-forth clicking. Also the site is way too slow to enjoy. I don't want to sound too negative - the reviews and the eye are still great - but this last year the overall brainwashed experience just wasn't as enjoyable as other years.

We're really sorry you feel like this but the old system couldn't work any more.  We're a site built from volunteers who make no money and have no time to pull off making a publication once per week any more.  The little amount of money that comes in through sales, sponsorships, and donations helps pay for operating expenses. 

We like it like this however, as we don't have to flood the site with tons of ads OR tiptoe around or favor advertisers, which, always compromises the quality of any publication.  News happens every day and reviews happen every day and this new format was the best solution we found to keep the content alive and rich.  Unfortunately for you, while there might be some tweaks in the future, we're gonna leave it in this format for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your interest but please contact bands through their labels or the addresses they print in their CDs.  Brainwashed isn't not anybody's secretary and doesn't provide access more than the artists do.

heartbreakenly beautiful. Something you can't drily explain track by track, but
has to be listened to and experienced as a whole. For me, it's already a
timeless masterpiece, no matter what the tracksources are for the record. Just
listen...

The album has indeed been listened to many times.  Perhaps you don't understand that because the album is wrapped in pain, it doesn't make it any less beautiful.  This could be something "lost in the translation" if English is not your native tongue.  Thanks for reading.

I've been coming to the site for just over a year now and I thought it was
about time to just give a little thanks to YOU (whoever it may be), the person
who runs the site. The dedication put into the site is evident, I think in
particular the artwork collected of and by the band is amazing. Cheers for
making such a great site.

There's a lot of people who run the site.  Once there's word on Godspeed, we'll be happy to post it.  For now, check out plenty of the other bands all the members are involved in.

I am looking to buy any available brainwashed samplers especially the sampler
with Jessica Bailliffs 'shadow'/windy and carl tracks on. i'm unclear-is there

All of the brainwashed releases we have for sale are at brainwashed.com/recordings.  Windy & Carl and Jessica Bailiff have a number of releases on Kranky and other labels and we do not have CD samplers of their stuff.  Sorry.

A friend has just contacted me about your Podcasts that are kept on Podcast.net.
Neither of us can get any of the old Brainwashed Podcasts only the current one.
We have both tried to grab the ones listed here :

Do you know if there a problem with their site? Do we both need ipodder
software to get them? iTunes only gets the most recent one

We only host one Podcast at a time usually for a number of reasons: server space and traffic being probably the biggest.  If you miss one, then subscribe and you won't miss another.

Hi there,  I'm an avid listener of the Brainwashed podcast.  I am currently
recording my own podcast here in LA. As a longtime brainwashed reader
and fan of the brainwashed artist roster, I would like to ask about the
feasibility of using select music in my own podcast. What might I have to
do to get this accomplished ?

There has been big news recently about the RIAA coming down on Adam Curry for
using music that isn't 'podsafe' and this has forced many podcasters like
myself to research different options. I come to you guys first because I want
to expose listeners to artists that I personally love. We aren't a radio show
so I won't be playing songs in their entirety; rather I would like to showcase
song segments or as something in the background. I would give on air credit at
all times, and follow that up with links on our webpage showing listners where
they might purchase material from the aritst.

Anyway, tell me what the rules are on this game. I'm new to all of this so
excuse my ignorance on the issue. As I said, I come first and foremost as a fan
that wishes to share his favorite music and hopefully generate sales for the
artist. Thank you for your time.

The Brainwashed Podcast only features music from the artists and labels whose websites are hosted on brainwashed.com.  I can't speak for other music we don't have permission to play nor other Podcasts in this world. You should either contact bands and labels directly who you want to use or just Podcast at your own risk.

i heard a track on webjay which was linked to brainwashed - it was so amazing,
but i cannot locate the track's maker. It was a remix of INXS "never tear us
apart" with the lyrics spoken over so effectively and ghost like. I must find a
link to it - any ideas??
